My Approach

I believe that every person deserves individualized, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health care. By integrating traditional psychiatric treatments with holistic approaches, I aim to create a supportive environment where healing happens on multiple levels—mind, body, and spirit. I focus on empowering my patients, helping them navigate their mental health with greater understanding, while prioritizing lifestyle changes that promote long-term well-being.

I believe in more skills and less pills, by expanding each patient’s “toolbox” of healthy methods of coping with life stressors through teaching distress tolerance skills, mindfulness, grounding techniques, and using integrative therapies specific to each individual patient’s needs.

“Anything that's human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable.”

Treatment Modalities

  • As a license prescriber I am able to prescribe medications for patients after careful review of your past and current responses, as well as those genetically related to you.

My goal is to use the least amount of medications that is effective, to preserve safety while you learn other methods for self regulating and reducing symptoms and are proven most effective when taken, if combined with psychotherapy.

Recommendation for non- prescribed nutraceuticals may also be made to improve symptoms. For some, medications are use to transition through a difficult time, and can be reduced or tapered off in time as they build their “tool box” of skills and resources. However, there are some who may require medications long term due to genetically related disorders such as bipolar and schizophrenia, where medications helps to provide physiological balance to prevent relapses. I work closely with you to ensure that the use of medications aligns with your individual needs and goals.

  • I offer a variety of methods of psychotherapy to help support you though the phases of your treatment, influenced by Trauma-Informed care that is sensitive to the process of healing in a safe and supportive environment. I integrate CBT, DBT and MI within psychotherapy to help you create lasting changes with greater insight.

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

      • CBT is goal-oriented therapy that helps the patient discover how their thoughts are driving their choices and behaviors and how they can challenge their thoughts to change their behaviors which is particularly effective for conditions like anxiety, depression, and trauma-related disorders.

    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

      • DBT is a form of CBT that focuses on teaching hands on skills to regulated the body’s natural flight or flight responses for emotional regulation, as well as teaching methods to reframe thoughts to improve reactivity and relationships. It’s especially helpful for individuals with mood disorders, trauma, or those who struggle with intense emotions.

    • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

      • MI is a collaborative, patient-centered technique used to strengthen a patient’s motivation and commitment to change by discovering the patient’s values and priorities that drive changes that the patient sees as their priority. This approach is particularly beneficial for those dealing with uncertain feelings toward lifestyle changes, addiction, or other challenges. by empowering them to making positive, lasting changes that are meaningful to them.

  • I recognize that lifestyle factors such as sleep, exercise, nutrition, and meaningful outlets play a role in mental health. I work with patients to implement sustainable changes in these areas, improving both mental and physical well-being.

I often utilize visual aids and provide handouts, as well as recommending videos, books, phone apps and research on topics discussed, to deepen your understanding on topics, and continue your progress outside of sessions. Within sessions I utilize fidgets, mindfulness tools and grounding techniques to help you and your child engage in your surroundings and adapting your coping skills and techniques in any environment you find yourself in

  • I can prescribe and review laboratory and genetic testing that can help to define possible physiological root causes for symptoms, for which the use of supplements and nutraceuticals may be recommended to improve your physical and mental health symptoms.
